It's not all about pottery! Not at all. Pottery was a very important industry in the area but there were many other crafts of the heathland such as brick, broom and hurdle making. There were several farms and many smallholdings. People attended school, churches and social events. All these are featured in the very many photographs of life in the neighbourhood. The natural history of the area has many unique features and liaison will be made with local countryside organisations. Support for the Verwood Heritage Centre project.
How can I help? Become a "Friend of Verwood Heathland Heritage Centre" and offer your time, services, knowledge, expertise. The centre has around 35 volunteers helping in running the centre, serving coffee, teaching needlecrafts, cleaning, making cakes and helping with children's pottery classes.
