  About the Verwood Museum Trust.

It's not all about pottery!

Not at all.   Pottery was a very important industry in the area but there were many other crafts of the heathland such as brick, broom and hurdle making.   There were several farms and many smallholdings.  People attended school, churches and social events.  All these are featured in the very many photographs of life in the neighbourhood.   The natural history of the area has many unique features and liaison will be made with local countryside organisations.

Support for the Verwood Heritage Centre project.

The project is backed by East Dorset District Council and Verwood Town Council.

The Museum of East Dorset Life has expressed its desire for mutual co-operation.

Several local trades people have volunteered to give their time and expertise as necessary.

Many people have joined the "Friends Association" and are willing to give their time and skills where required.

Local art and craft groups have expressed an interest in using the facilities.

Local Schools have indicated their intention of using the centre to further their National Curriculum studies.

How can I help?

Become a "Friend of  Verwood Heathland Heritage Centre" and offer your time, services, knowledge, expertise.

The centre has around 35 volunteers helping in running the centre, serving coffee, teaching needlecrafts, cleaning, making cakes and helping with children's pottery classes.
