ELSIE'S STORY
LONDON EVACUEE
Extract from Childhood: Elsie's Story September 1939:   
Evacuated from London to Bath and then Verwood. 
RESERVED OCCUPATION When World War (II) started I was 16 years old and living in the then Village of Verwood in Dorset . I remember the blackout when no lights were allowed and all windows had to be blacked out......
V. E. DAY By the spring of 1945 German outer defences had been broken and it was quite clear that, within a very short time, Hitler's forces would be totally defeated........
